Seminar Metropol.x_Tallinn
Located on the Baltic Sea coast Tallinn is Estonias capital and with around 440,000 inhabitants most populous city of the country. The old town, which has been a UNESCO World Heritage Site since 1997, stands for an extremely eventful city and national history. While early growth was driven by industrialization and defense, Tallinn is now considered a startup hub and one of the ten most digital cities in Europe. The task of the seminar is to explore this DNA through observing, mapping, critically evaluating and finally visualizing various layers, e.g., historical and demographical development, dwelling patterns, infrastructure, education and culture, architecturals styles, lifestyle, and tourism. As a result, an atlas of Tallinn's contemporary urban landscape will be published.
